Should my prenatal contain Vitamin K1 and K2? EverNatal does and here's why...
Why Does EverNatal Contain Both Vitamin K1 and K2?
I got asked the question today:
“Why does EverNatal contain Vitamin K1 and K2 when other prenatals don’t?”
Brilliant question—so I thought it should be made into a post!
✨ Here’s Why EverNatal Includes Both Vitamin K1 AND K2...
1. Different Effects in the Body
We included both forms because they serve different crucial functions:
✿ Vitamin K1 is essential for blood coagulation—an important factor for birthing mothers.
✿ Vitamin K2 supports bone and heart health, preventing pregnancy-related osteoporosis.
Even a well-balanced diet may not provide enough vitamin K to fully meet the body's needs—especially for mamas experiencing nausea, vomiting, or hyperemesis gravidarum (HE). Their diet cannot always cover nutritional requirements, making supplementation essential.
2. EverNatal Supports More Than Just Pregnancy
We acknowledge that Vitamin K doesn’t transfer well across the placenta. However, because EverNatal is formulated for preconception, pregnancy, AND postpartum, we included it.
Many prenatals are designed for pregnancy alone and leave out Vitamin K. But EverNatal is designed for both baby AND mama, including her health post-pregnancy.
3. Reduced Risk of Neonatal Bleeding
A meta-analysis of 21,493 women and their newborns found that higher maternal Vitamin K1 levels reduced neonatal bleeding. 😲
